The Heart of Giving
You already know the idea of ma’aser — setting aside a tenth of what Hashem gives us, so that we ourselves are enriched in turn.
But there is a second principle that sits right alongside it: aniyei ircha kodmin — the needs of your own community come first.
Before anywhere else, our own Shul — the place that is there for every simcha and every hard moment, for every family, in every season — deserves to be first in line.
